From Marina to Marina: A Weekend by Boat from Alicante to Altea
There are weekends… and then there are weekends where you get to feel something different. That mix of freedom and joy that only happens when you're out at sea, away from the usual routines, sharing real moments with people you love. This one was that kind of weekend. Special.
Two Nights, Two Marinas: Greenwich & Club Náutico
We left from Alicante Marina with Soulseeker Boats and followed the coastline north. Passed Benidorm and Cala del Tío Ximo, a hidden, quiet cove tucked between the cliffs. No bar, just clear water, a bit of sand and stone, and that feeling of being somewhere very few people reach.
Our first night was at Greenwich Marina, also known as Campomanes. It has its own rhythm. Self-contained, with a curated feel. You can’t just wander into town from there, you need a car or taxi if you want to go further out. But inside the marina, it’s all there.
We had drinks in a couple of the bars, the music was really good, proper DJ sets, and there’s this beautiful stone beach right next to the port.
The next day we moved over to Club Náutico. Very different energy. Here you can walk, all the way along the beach into Altea if you want.
If you’re staying the night with the boat, they often offer a complimentary cava, which is such a nice touch.
There’s a pool with a lifeguard, great size too, perfect if you want to swim a few proper lengths or if you're with kids and want them to have space to move. And right beside it there’s a bar, so you can grab a drink or something light to eat without going far. Everything is easy here.
Ca Joan: A Culinary Highlight in Altea
That night we took a taxi out to Ca Joan Altea, and I’m so glad we did. One of the best meals I’ve had in Altea. No question. The meat was incredible. We had a beautiful wine, good bread and olive oil, and it just felt… right.
One thing to note though, when they offer off-menu seafood, ask about the portion size and price. We had chipirones that were delicious, but the portion was smaller than expected and not cheap. Still, overall, the food was exceptional.
Brunch at Diferens and why Marina Sleepovers are the Best
Brunch the next morning at Diference, just near Club Náutico, was another highlight. Beautifully presented and just well done. You can tell when a place pays attention.
Sleeping in the marinas might’ve been my favourite part. That kind of quiet you don’t really get anywhere else. No traffic, no street noise, just the sound of water, ropes gently moving, the occasional creak of the boat. Club Náutico gives you that openness and freedom to explore. Greenwich feels more tucked in, a little more polished. They’re very different, but both offer something worth feeling.
A few days of floating, laughing, eating well, and waking up to the sea… what else.
